'From Rail to Trail' Rail Corridor Exhibition

The Rail Corridor is the former Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) railway line. Today, it is a recreational corridor stretching from the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station in the south to Woodlands in the north. It threads through and serves diverse communities, potentially connecting 1 million residents within a 1km radius and visitors from all walks of life. Along the corridor, users enjoy community nodes that are activity hubs for social interactions and community bonding. The Rail Corridor has been more than 14 years in the making.

Our Community Nodes

Ten community nodes along the Rail Corridor trail serve as gathering spaces and activity hubs. Four nodes have been implemented, with more on the horizon!

Queensway Node

Queensway node is in the heart of Queenstown, surrounded by Tanglin Halt, Mei Chin, and Queensway estates. The site includes a large and covered space beneath the Queensway Flyover, with the Rail Corridor trail running through the site.

URA and the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) launched a design competition in September 2024. Architects were invited to form multi-disciplinary teams and submit design proposals to transform Queensway node into a multi-functional and inviting space that can be activated and programmed for community use.

The winning team will be appointed by URA to further develop the design proposal with stakeholders such as residents, and complete implementation of the node by 2027.

Former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station

Located at the fringe of the Central Business District (CBD) and surrounded by established housing estates, the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station (TPRS) is a National Monument and will serve as the key southern gateway to the Rail Corridor, the CBD and the future Greater Southern Waterfront (GSW).

Launched in April 2024, the ‘From Dreams to Rail-ity’ ideas competition invited the public to submit proposals that would reimagine TPRS as a vibrant, inclusive, multi-functional heritage building that connects the community to the Rail Corridor. The competition attracted 93 submissions from individuals and teams, from both Singapore and overseas.

Stagmont Ring Node

The future Stagmont Ring node is located at the confluence of Yew Tee estate, the rejuvenated Sungei Kadut Eco District (SKED), Pang Sua Canal and the upcoming DE1 MRT Station along the Downtown Line. Two zones have been identified to be transformed into active recreational and inclusive community spaces for residents, workers and visitors to the Rail Corridor.

Area A - Sheltered community space under the new vehicular bridge between Choa Chu Kang North 7 and Woodlands Road.

Area B - An expansive site with opportunities for community uses abound. Imagine new lookout decks, spaces for events and outdoor learning experiences.
